Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026. Short version: we collect almost nothing, and we're upfront about the little we do.
Affiliate links — the important part
The "buy" buttons on our parts lists are affiliate links, mostly to Amazon.com. Here's what that means in plain English:
- When you click one and buy something, the retailer knows the sale came from our site, and we earn a small commission.
- It costs you nothing extra. You pay the same price you'd pay going to Amazon directly.
- It doesn't affect our recommendations. We pick parts first, on merit — then link them. Nobody can pay for placement on our lists.
Amazon Associates disclosure (required): BuildAPCGuide is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
What data we collect
Very little. This site has no accounts, no login, no newsletter signup, and no comment sections. We do not ask for your personal information anywhere except the contact form — and that just opens your email app; we only receive what you choose to send us.
Like nearly every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic web-server logs (things like your IP address, browser type, and which pages you visited) for security and to keep the site running. We don't combine this with anything, sell it, or use it for advertising.
Cookies
We don't set any cookies ourselves. If you click through to a retailer like Amazon, their site will use its own cookies under their privacy policy — that's how they know to credit us for the referral.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Given how little we collect, we don't expect dramatic plot twists.
